The Project EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the assigned project site(s) are in compliance with state and company environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.  This person is a partner with the project team to be proactive regarding safety and addressing/correcting safety issues as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety boards, equipment and site-specific materials are supplied at each site.
  • Assist Project Superintendent, Project Engineers and Project Managers, with the review/development of the Subcontractor’s Site Specific Safety Plans for completeness and relevancy. Conduct project readiness reviews for key subcontractors.
  • Ensure subcontractors and vendors implement their Site Specific Safety Plans and comply with R&H Site Specific Safety Plan.
  • Utilize EHS software platform (Hammertech) and conduct general safety audits, ensuring corrective safety observations are documented and safety violations are corrected immediately.
  • Work with EHS Director on compliance audit documentation and provide technical expertise.
  • Ensure R&H and subcontractors have required equipment training documentation, if not provide or arrange technical safety training required to support field operations.
  • Support R&H and subcontractor project foremen with the development and review of their pre-task plans.
  • Clarify safety rules and provide technical expertise and solutions to safety challenges during jobsite safety orientations.
  • Develop job site orientation program with a focus on safety culture and including site awareness, setting of expectations, education and personal accountability.
  • Conduct job site orientation for all team members including R&H employees, subcontractor employees, vendors and other site visitors.
  • Conduct safety-related trainings like, OSHA-10, OSHA-30, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Trenching/Excavation, Scaffolds, Ladders, Cranes and Rigging.

Education & Skills

  • Minimum of three years construction/safety experience
  • OSHA 501 Trainer Course preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Trained (If not already certified, R&H will provide training.
  • OSHA regulations and Safe Operations knowledge
  • Solid understanding of construction means and methods and best practices, knowledgeable of all trades
  • Effectively communicate (orally and in writing) in English, with excellent comprehension
  • Coach and mentor others
  • Conduct field training
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
