A great senior estimator is self-motivated and enjoys meeting clients subcontractors, and the project leader during the Preconstruction Phase. Plays the role as mentor and leader with the Preconstruction Team and  putting numbers together for a well-thought out and detailed budget.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and lead coordination meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate/budget
  • Prepare complex and detailed cost estimates and preliminary conceptual budgets
  • Represent R&H to clients, potential clients, A/E, and other contractors to provide cost engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility
  • Develop strong subcontractor relationships
  • Work with Operations counterparts to establish GMP contracts
  • Based on a department plan, provide mentorship by involving estimators in select scope packages on one of your own projects, related to their estimating growth goals.
  • Participate in and invite industry contacts to at least one R&H organized marketing event.

Education & Skills

  • College degree preferred in construction/architecture/engineering or equivalent experience
  • Construction field experience favorable
  • 5-10 years of estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience related to similar facility construction
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook, Project), Bluebeam Revu & Viewpoint
  • LEED AP, OSHA 10-Hour, Revit/CAD experience are favorable
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential
  • Oversee, guide, mentor, and train less experienced estimators through the Preconstruction process, from mapping the approach to final GMP input and review as directed by the Director of Preconstruction Services.  Participate and provide input during the review process for these team members.
