The Senior Project Engineer’s primary role is to support the Project Manager and Superintendent on commercial construction projects by being responsible for document control, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, and ensuring project compliance with plans and specifications. This role plays a key part in maintaining project organization, communication, and efficiency from preconstruction through closeout.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform the site administration/documentation including subcontractor submittals, requests for information (RFIs), OAC meeting minutes, permit tracking, ASIs, CCDs, etc.
  • Track project documentation in required logs (RFIs, Submittals, etc.)
  • Monitor project sustainability goals, including maintaining the proper logs/documentation and reviewing products for sustainability compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist PM with Cost/Change Management, including being familiar with Vista Change Management, tracking and vetting subcontractor costs for changed scope.
  • Draft subcontracts considering inclusions/exclusions to ensure they are covering the required scope.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings and assist crew with spotting/resolving jobsite hazards.
  • Assist with quality control documentation and testing, including documenting work on the building envelope, window testing, etc.
  • Manage the project closeout process, in conjunction with the project assistant, including the punchlist, owner training materials, procuring, and tracking attic stock materials and reviewing as-builts, O&Ms, and warranty requirements.

Education & Skills

  • 3-6 years of construction project engineering experience
  • College degree preferred in construction/architecture/engineering or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project), Bluebeam Revu & Viewpoint
  • LEED AP, OSHA 10-Hour, Revit/CAD experience are favorable
  • Great communication skills – written and oral
  • Attention to detail, analytical approach to problems
  • Personable and professional
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
