The Foreman is responsible for providing leadership and directing the work of R&H crews and subcontractors on either SPG projects where they are responsible for supporting the superintendent or on a Buildings project where they are focusing on limited scopes of work (i.e. framing, concrete, interior finishes, building envelope, etc.). The foreman is also responsible for safety, quality control and jobsite logistics/coordination.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure completion of initial safety and hazard assessments (site specific safety plan and pre-task plans).
  • Track jobsite safety requirements, including employee safety certifications, tool and equipment inspections, etc.
  • Communicate and set expectations regarding job assignments to subcontractors and R&H team members within trade/scope areas.
  • Interpret and understand the comprehensive plan set, specifications, RFIs, ASI and other architectural change items for assigned scopes/trades; Review technical data related to submittals for conformance with the contract documents including layout and dimensions.
  • Accountable for reading, understanding, and following project schedule.
  • Forecast needed labor for assigned scopes/areas of work.
  • Recognize, address, and resolve issues/problems among/between crew members.
  • Ensure crew compliance with project and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide performance evaluations for R&H crew members with superintendent input.

Education & Skills

  • 5+ years of progressive field carpentry experience and/or has a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management and 1 year of construction experience
  • 2+ years of lead carpenter role
  • OSHA 10 Hour Certification a plus (will be required to become OSHA 30 certified)
  • Commercial construction safety knowledge / training
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Effectively communicate (orally and in writing) in English, with good comprehension
  • Speak Spanish is a plus
  • Lead the crew(s)
  • Utilize Microsoft Office programs including, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Edit documents in Bluebeam
  • Utilize an iPad and AutoDesk Construction Cloud to track issues, QA/QC and access project documentation
  • Has strong knowledge of one, or several building trades, means and methods, productivity norms and industry standards, e.g. division three concrete, division 6 rough carpentry, division 7 Thermal & Moisture Protection
