Smith Teamaker at PDX
PORTLAND, OREGON
R&H constructed Steven Smith Teamaker’s newest café located within the newly renovated Portland International Airport. The space highlights the brand’s retail offerings through custom cabinetry, Corian inserts, counter façade detailing and seven intricate tile inlays that carry across the walls and floors. The R&H team featured custom casework for Smith Tea, honoring the brand’s legacy and its enduring connection to Portland.
Behind the beauty of the space is a complex buildout. Located directly above a back-of-house baggage loading area, the project required extensive pre-planning and close coordination with the Port of Portland team. To minimize disruption, our team scheduled more disruptive work, such as slab plumbing, electrical installations and core drilling, to be done during night hours, while completing less intrusive tasks during the day. This approach ensured that port staff, flight crews, and passengers experienced minimal interruption.
Make sure to stop by this café on your next trip to the PDX Airport. You’ll find it in the North Concession Hall on your way to gates D & E, accessible to all travelers via the concourse connector.
