Construction is underway on Eastlake Village Phase II apartments.  A ceremonial ground breaking was held on Wednesday, October 15th.  Speakers at the event included, Eric King, Bend’s City Manager, Jim Clinton, Mayor of Bend, Margaret Van Vliet, Director of Oregon Housing & Community Services and Michael Hinton, Vice Chair of Housing Works’ Board of Directors.  Each speaker highlighted the need for affordable workforce housing in Central Oregon.

Developed by Housing Works, Eastlake Village Phase II will consist of forty units of high quality, affordable workforce housing on Bend’s east side.  The property will provide 8-one bedroom, 16-two bedroom and 16-three bedroom apartment homes.  Half of the homes will serve households under 50% of the area median income while the other half will be dedicated to households under 60% of the area median income.  In addition, Housing Works has designated two of these units to formerly homeless veterans and two units of transitional housing for homeless families.

Merryman Barnes Architects designed the project and R&H Construction will serve as the general contractor.
