R&H volunteers returned to the Sunshine Division warehouse for another round of food packing — this time joined by our friends at Froelich Engineers. In total, our group packed a whooping 6,000 pounds of food, enough to support 200 families in need! Sunshine Division works to ensure families across our community have access to essential resources including food and clothing. We fired up our stoves for another Red Apron virtual cooking event, which has become an R&H team favorite. Our Wellness Committee led this step-by-step cooking class where team members learned how to make tortillas from scratch by hand-mixing the dough and forming each one with a tortilla press. Participants also put their knife skills to work making fresh pico de gallo and guacamole to complete their tacos and enjoy as a side. For it being a first-time tortilla making experience for many, the results came out looking top-notch! 🌮🌽

We’re joining Washington County in celebrating the grand opening of the Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment (CATT) Hillsboro Recovery Center. Nearly a year in the making, the Hillsboro Recovery Center will offer a variety of community services to support people with substance use disorders and other behavioral health conditions. R&H performed a major renovation to the existing building, transforming it into a modern, light-filled space that will include therapy rooms and on-site services from the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon, Solutions Group NW, LifeWorks NW’s Hawthorne Walk-In Center, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, Project Homeless Connect Washington County and Washington County Behavioral Health.
At yesterday’s ribbon cutting, representatives from Washington County (Chair Kathryn Harrington, Commissioner Jerry Willey, Behavioral Health Project Manager Kristin Burke and Director of Health and Human Services Mjere Simantel) spoke about the immediate impact this much-needed resource will provide to the community. R&H Senior Project Manager Micah Stout shared insights about how the project came to life and what this project meant to R&H. Thank you to Washington County, Holst Architecture, Advanced Tribal, and all other project and trade partners involved in making this project a success! Supporting the future of construction means showing up, sharing knowledge and building lasting connections. This month, R&H took part in four industry events promoting inclusion in the AEC industry and connecting with the next generation of builders. Our team played a tool matching game with students at the @oregontradeswomen Career Fair, connected with business owners at the 37th Annual @oame1987 Trade Show, fostered peer connections at the Night with @nawicpdx54 event and hosted students from @nwcollegeofconstruction for a tour of our United Cerebral Palsy project. What a month it’s been!

The Construction Care Line, an industry-specific mental health crisis line, is now LIVE thanks to our friends at @wearelinesforlife. R&H is proud to be one of the contractors working with Lines for Life to develop the Construction Suicide Prevention Partnership and champion a greater initiative to reduce the stigma around mental health in the construction industry.
As the construction industry continues to have one of the highest suicide rates among any profession, we recognize the importance of opening the lines of communication – both with each other and with those that can provide help and resources for those in need. We hope that by working together, we can break down barriers around mental health, improve awareness and reduce harm across our industry.
The Construction Care Line is available 24/7 at:
(503) 433-7878 (Oregon callers)
(833) 444-6020 (out of state callers)
Learn more about the Construction Care Line at the link in our bio.
By speaking up and supporting each other, we can change the conversation around mental health in construction. Thank you to Lines for Life and all who helped bring the Construction Care Line to life.

Coming soon to downtown Bend: The Westman Hotel, a boutique hotel inside the renovated 1930’s-era Old Post Office building. Click the link in our bio to check out this article from Cascade Business News for an insightful overview and R&H`s approach to this adaptive reuse project, including some of the environmental benefits.
The three-story, 20,000 s.f. Westman Hotel blends the building`s historic features with a refined, modern design. Every step of this process is being handled with care, as R&H crews have preserved as much of the original structure as possible, while salvaging materials along the way. Named in tribute to Miss Minnie Westman, the first female mail carrier west of the Mississippi (1888), the hotel will feature 23 uniquely designed guest rooms and a selection of curated historical artifacts, including the original postal vault door. With high-end finishes and an intentional nod to Bend’s past, we can’t wait to welcome you inside!

According to industry research, 1 in 5 construction workers struggle with anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges. Signs of these conditions can often be easily overlooked, and could be affecting someone you know.
Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month, where R&H will be kicking-off 30 days of mental health-focused content for our team (more to come later this month). By acknowledging the mental health crisis in our industry, speaking openly about mental health and ensuring our team members have easy access to immediate and long-term mental health resources, R&H is taking an important step toward breaking the stigma of asking for mental healthcare. We all benefit from supporting one another, leading to safer jobsites and a stronger team culture.
Call, text or online chat 988 to be connected to the 24/7 national suicide and crisis lifeline. @namioregon also has great resources and can help in a crisis. Just text NAMI to 62640 to connect with a specialist. Both of these resources are free and confidential.
