R&H welcomed ACE Team #6 to our Portland office for two recent mentorship sessions. The ACE program connects high school juniors and seniors with professionals in the architecture, engineering and construction industries to provide career mentorship and engaging learning experiences. ACE Team #6 and R&H senior project engineer Eli Cox-Skall (ACE mentor and former ACE participant) meet weekly over the course of three months to collaborate on a group project. Along the way, students gain insight into a wide range of careers while getting a look into day-to-day life in the construction industry. 👷♀️🏗️ @acementor

We`re excited to share that long-time team member Alisa Castellano has been promoted to R&H’s Director of Finance! Celebrating 30 years with the company this year, Alisa has been an anchor for our accounting team serving in roles including finance team member and accounting manager before serving as R&H`s controller for 11 years. As Director of Finance, Alisa will continue to oversee the accounting department while driving financial strategy, planning and strengthening of R&H`s relationships with project partners to ensure continued operational and financial excellence. To get into the spirit, we’re driving into R&H’s renovation and expansion of Oswego Lake Country Club’s Pro Shop and course-side restaurant known as Murphy’s Bar. Scope included a full remodel and addition to the existing facilities and installation of a new stormwater mitigation system as well as a full renovation of the main clubhouse kitchen.
Throughout construction, R&H coordinated with the club to ensure minimal disruption to members and staff, keeping operations on par. The Pro Shop was temporarily relocated to the adjacent parking lot and a temporary kitchen was run out of the main clubhouse. Special thanks to our project partners at GBD Architects for making this project a hole-in-one!⛳☀️

Six R&H team members stepped off of the jobsite, away from the office and into a powerful day of learning and connection at Friday’s Safe From Hate Summit, hosted by Oregon Tradeswomen at the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center. The summit brought together a broad range of AEC industry stakeholders who shared resources that support women and marginalized groups, highlighted successful implementations of Respectful Worksite Programming, and fostered honest conversations about the ongoing challenges of creating respectful, inclusive workplaces. Our team left feeling energized, inspired and excited to bring those insights back to R&H.

Last week R&H celebrated Women in Construction Week in our offices and on jobsites across Portland Metro and Central Oregon. This year’s NAWIC WIC Week theme was "Together We Rise." To R&H, that means that progress happens when we work together. By supporting and empowering women in the trades, we can help create more opportunities and drive meaningful change. 👷🏽♀️♀️🙌
We kicked off the week with a special toolbox talk at our jobsites, highlighting the challenges women face working in the construction industry, including feeling isolated at work, facing harassment in the workplace and inadequate safety equipment. Our Portland office ended the week by hosting happy hour in our café, bringing together all people from our industry to connect and celebrate. R&H’s teams shared site progress with four Washington County Commissioners and a group from our design partners at @holstarchitecture. R&H’s project engineers also stopped by the site for a ‘PE Walk,’ where our developing leaders shared insights with their peers about their respective projects. We love getting to share about these exciting projects shaping our community!

The multi-phased renovation of @antica_terra’s Barrel Hall reveals a beautiful space made possible by thoughtful design and detailed craftsmanship. Designed by @west_of_west, the Barrel Hall is home to a tasting space, a commercial kitchen, barrel storage and several high-end upgrades. Private tasting rooms, custom-crafted wood wine shelving, restrooms with floor-to-ceiling handmade tile and a striking portal entry give this space its signature aesthetic and moody charm.
