Now open in Portland’s Pearl District, this 10,000 s.f. restaurant was designed as a love letter to Portland and Oregon, with each area taking on a personality of its own. The result is playful, nostalgic and a little unexpected, with references to the city, state and people who have shaped them woven throughout.
For R&H, bringing that vision to life meant an exceptionally detailed buildout. Layered wall treatments, specialty lighting, murals, reflective surfaces and one-of-a-kind decorative elements each required their own approach, with careful coordination between trades, artists, designers and fabricators. Even the transitions between spaces were part of the work, bringing together dramatically different finishes and materials while maintaining the craftsmanship expected throughout.
The finished restaurant is colorful, highly detailed and unmistakably Portland, with surprises everywhere you look.

This quarter, three R&H team members are celebrating an incredible 20 years with the company: Mike Aragon, Chris Hedger and Kraig O’Connor!
Mike and Chris have spent much of those 20 years leading some of R&H’s most complex work in the field. Mike’s project list includes One North, DoveLewis Animal Hospital and the Washington County Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment. Today, he’s leading construction of the AC Hotel McMinnville. Chris has built deep expertise in complex renovation work, including Broadway Medical Clinic, the 2 & Taylor building and Zupan’s Headquarters. He’s currently putting that expertise to work on a major seismic upgrade and occupied renovation at Terwilliger Plaza.
Kraig has grown with R&H from project engineer to project manager, senior project manager, director of operations and now president and CEO. Along the way, he helped lead major projects throughout the Northwest and today guides R&H’s vision and strategy, while also supporting our teams and day-to-day operations.
Twenty years means a lot of projects, a lot of memories and a lasting impact on R&H. We’re grateful to Mike, Chris and Kraig for all they’ve brought to the company. Cheers to 20 years!

A new destination is taking shape on the 300-acre Evergreen Campus in McMinnville! R&H and SERA Design & Architecture are teaming up to bring the new AC Hotel McMinnville to life.
The five-story, 118-guestroom hotel is designed to make the most of its wine country setting, with plenty of places to gather, unwind and take in the views. Guests will be welcomed by a lively ground floor with a café, bar, lounge and other amenities, while the rooftop will offer a restaurant, bar and outdoor terrace overlooking the Willamette Valley. A pool and veranda seating will bring even more of the experience outdoors. We’re excited to see this project continue to take shape and look forward to sharing more progress from McMinnville along the way!

R&H is expanding Trillium Engineering’s Hood River operations, transforming neighboring space into 42,000 s.f. of additional space for the aerospace designer and manufacturer. The expanded office will be home to technology labs, hardware storage and high-end wood finishes, giving the Trillium team more room to grow and collaborate. Each year, R&H employees volunteer their time to help bring the festival to life while supporting Pickathon’s zero-waste mission. This year, our team helped assemble picnic tables for guests to eat, relax and enjoy between sets, using materials that were saved and reused from previous years. We also helped build benches and additional seating for performers at the Wildhorse Stage. We’re proud to contribute our construction skills to an event that puts sustainability, creativity and community center stage.

Our team recently completed a major concrete foundation pour for Guide Dogs for the Blind’s new campus hub and residence facility, marking an exciting step forward in construction. Despite challenging weather conditions, our team worked closely with all project partners to carefully coordinate the pour, ensuring the crews, equipment, and site conditions were fully prepared for a successful placement. As construction continues, we’re excited to see the structure begin to take shape and this new campus come to life.

Last week, our team celebrated a major milestone with a Topping Out BBQ after completing the fifth and final floor of the new AC Hotel McMinnville. It was a great opportunity to bring together everyone working on the project, enjoy a well-earned meal, and celebrate the incredible progress we`ve made together.
With the structure now complete, we`re focused on enclosing the building so interior work can ramp up. Every milestone brings us one step closer to opening this exciting new addition to the Evergreen Campus. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in reaching this milestone. We`re excited to keep the momentum going and can`t wait to share what`s next!

The result is a boutique hotel that honors the building`s legacy while offering guests a distinctly modern stay.
