The Union at St. Johns

PORTLAND, OREGON

This mixed-use multifamily housing project includes 103 apartments, 20,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, and an underground parking garage. Located at the intersection of N. Lombard and Charleston, the site sits at a key gateway to downtown St. Johns.

The building is organized around a series of courtyards, and steps back from the sidewalk. As a result, it creates gracious public gathering spaces, including a pedestrian plaza at Charleston and Lombard. In addition to multifamily housing, the project includes the reconfiguration of the intersection of Highway 30 and N Lombard Street, including traffic flow, traffic control signals, and sidewalks.

SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES

  • High performance weather barrier

Progress

The Union at St. Johns was constructed on a tight site adjacent to an elementary school and a public library. Therefore, excavation, concrete and shoring were completed in complex phases to lessen the impact on the surrounding neighbors without increasing schedule or budget.

I’m very grateful for the way The Union turned out. You did an exceptional job. Thanks for keeping the craft alive.
